IPC participant from Venezuela Vanesa Montero Lopez became a participant in the meeting of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement

Vanesa headed the Venezuelan delegation at the plenary session which took place in Baku (Azerbaijan). This year the theme of the meeting was "Strengthening the Role of National Parliaments in Promoting Peace and Sustainable Development in the World". The meeting was attended by parliamentarians from more than 40 member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement and 8 international parliamentary organizations. The date of the conference coincided with June 30 - the International Day of Parliamentarism.

The discussion at the Baku conference of global problems was perceived in the Arab world as a sign of the emergence of a new center of power for neutral countries. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in his speech stressed the importance of making the voice of the Non-Aligned Movement, the second largest international organization after the UN, heard throughout the world and put forward new initiatives.
