The first feminist march in Astana focused on domestic violence, which kills at least 450 women every year in Kazakhstan. The participants of the march, including representatives of the Myqty Women Anti-Discrimination Initiative and the Feminita Kazakhstan Feminist Initiative, also raised the issues of Islamization of Kazakhstan.
