IPC participant from Malaysia Elisa Shafiqah completed a UN workshop in Japan

IPC participant from Malaysia, Chief Advisor of the Malasian Youth Diplomacy movement, founder of the youth movement Disarmament Doves Elisa Shafiqah completed a two-week Free & Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) workshop on maritime security from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. The internship took place in Japan, where participants explored Japanese islands and studied traditional practices blending sustainability with livelihoods.

Elisa Shafiqah: "Maritime security is more than just defense: it’s about livelihoods, climate resilience, and governance. CBRN threats and maritime security are deeply linked from nuclear risks to chemical pollution, we need stronger policies."
